Our Work
Land & Water Development
- “Land is Livelihood” is the concept that drives SAFAL’s Land and Water Resource Development programme. It remains a core activity in SAFAL's strategy to develop rural livelihoods. SAFAL's multi-disciplinary and integrated approach, therefore, is based on the premise that significant opportunities for livelihood enhancement exist through the restoration and management of the available natural resources in the rural areas.Agriculture based livelihood cannot go beyond a point if development of two fundamental resources such as land and water are unaddressed. There is enough experience today to know that a family with one to two acres of land requires a one-time investment of average Rs.30000-40000 to improve the land and water condition so that cropping intensity can be doubled.
FPO Promotion & Development
- Our Initiative within 3-5 years, aims to Improve the economic conditions of small farm holders, by addressing the issue of small and fragmented land holdings, through forming of farmer's collectives (FPO) Farmers Producer Organization.
- Farm production and productivity is not as big barrier in the economic development of farmers as the weak market linkages restricting best bargain and high transaction cost of farm produce and farm inputs/services due to fragmented and small-holdings. Nearly 80% of farmers (Small Holder Farmers) have a net annual income of less than INR 70,000. Due to the small ticket size of the transaction, SHFs have no access to the services of the agriculture value chain, which has a number of inefficient and opaque layers between farmers and businesses.
Agri Commerce - General Information
- SAFAL Developer of an agricultural technology designed to offer ethical sourcing of farm produce to address the needs of both farmers and buyers. The company's technology handles farm produce sourced directly from farmers, farmer producer organizations and customizes the supply model for the buyer and offers weather information, enabling farmers to reduce wastage and inefficiencies and get a resource management tool to manage operations and accounting.
Agri Finance
- Over 56% of India's population is engaged in agriculture and allied activities. Farmers contribute to food security and attaining food self-sufficiency. To maintain and increase productivity levels and diversify their sources of income, farmers need more capital. Small and marginal farmers with meagre savings require an even higher input of capital. Access to credit can empower farmers and enable them to invest agricultural capital in order to increase farm income and household well-being.
